West’s Sanctions on Russia

November 29, 2022: Visit of Indian Foreign Minister to Moscow

Dr. S. Jaishankar

Dr. S Jaishankar, during his visit to Moscow, said that India would continue to import cheaper Russian oil to be able to reduce inflation in India.

White House has taken Dr S Jaishankar’s statement in its stride. President Biden’s office has chosen to say only that Russia is not a reliable source for energy or for defense supplies.

WION has reported that Russia has asked India for 500 products to be supplied. (Please see the WION report at https://tinyurl.com/3ra3xm48)

OUR VIEW: Except for arms, which might be used in the Ukraine war, India should not hesitate to supply the goods, required by Russia. It is in India’s interest, as well as in the wider interest of the world, that Russia does not become over-dependent on China.
