Nov 23, 2022: Mallikarjun Kharge demands accountability for the last 27 years

During his election campaign, the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded answers on accountability for the last 27 years.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that instead of cursing the Congress, PM should speak about the BJP’s “misrule” in the State.

Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday had sought to corner the Congress for not supporting a tribal woman, Droupadi Murmu, in the presidential poll. He had also lashed out at the opposition party, accusing it of engaging in vote bank politics, nepotism, sectarianism and supporting “anti-social elements” during its rule in Gujarat.

Kharge asked,“ Why was the future of the children of Gujarat spoiled? Why Gujarat ranks 29th among 30 States in malnourished, underweight children? Why is it at 19th place in infant mortality rate?” Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Congress of insulting Dr B.R. Ambedkar and working against the development of backward communities. He said Rahul Gandhi, in his Yatra, had Medha Patkar with him. It was a symbol of injustice done to Gujarat by denying it water. He said Congress, along with persons like Medha Patkar, had managed to delay the project by more than two decades.

At Rajkot, Amit Shah said that it was BJP, which had ended the water scarcity of Rajkot. He said that foundation stone of Sardar Sarovar was laid one year before he was born. But it reached Rajkot only after BJP came to power.

AAP CAMPAIGN: “It should make you proud that the son of a maldhari is going to become the CM,” said Ishudan Gadhvi, AAP candidate for CMship and a candidate from the Khambhaliya seat. Thereafter the Gujarat Maldhari Mahapanchayat, has decided against voting for BJP.

At Khambhaliya seat, Gadhvi is pitted against Vikram Madam, the sitting Congress MLA. The BJP has fielded the former minister, Mulu Bera, who had lost the 2012 election from the Jamnagar North seat.
