Narendrabhai Modi: After casting the vote on 5th December 2022

Exit polls have predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to retain power in Gujarat. The vote counting will be done on December 8.

TEPID VOTING: Modest turnout marked Gujarat’s second phase of voting in which 64.39 % average turnout was registered at 93 Assembly seats across the regions of north and central Gujarat on Monday.

The provisional figure released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the second phase at 5 p.m. is expected to rise further as collecting data from some polling stations takes time and the number does not include postal ballots.

In the first phase, an average 63.3% turnout was registered from 89 seats in Saurashtra and south Gujarat districts.

LOW VOTING IN CITIES: Polling percentage in Ahmedabad is 54.88%, the lowest in a decade. In the second phase of voting, the voter turnout is nearly 58%.

About Candidates from the Dairy Industry: The co-operative dairy industry touches the lives of 36 lakh families of farmers, spread across all the districts of Gujarat. Though the Chairman of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), that markets dairy products under the brand name of Amul, is with BJP, Congress has a number of Directors in the Board of GCMMF and in the Boards of other Dairies. A good number of Leaders of Dairy industry are standing for election to the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat under the banners of BJP or Congress. Many of them are also standing as independent candidates also.

OTHER ELECTIONS: In Himachal Pradesh, Exit Polls are showing a neck-to-neck race between Congress and BJP.

For the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Exit Polls show that AAP would win over BJP in a big way.
