Nov 12, 2022: BJP releases the Lists of its 166 candidates

The assembly elections in Gujarat are scheduled for December 1 and 5. In the first round, 89 of the total 182 assembly seats will go to polls. Each of the three parties, Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress and AAP, are likely to put up their candidates for each one of the 182 constituencies. In addition, there may be some smaller parties and some independent candidates, who may also join the fray.

Saturday, 12th November 2022: BJP released its 2nd list of 6 candidates for the State assembly. On Thursday, 10th November 2022, BJP had announced its first list of candidates for 160 assembly seats out of 182 assembly seats for the poll bound state of Gujarat.

The BJP’s 166 candidates include 16 Females.  13 candidates of BJP are from scheduled castes and 25 from scheduled tribes.  There are 69 candidates, who are Members of the Legislative Assembly of 2017-22. They are again in the fray as candidates of BJP.

Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Chief Minister of the State, is a candidate from Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad. He is the sitting MLA from the same constituency.

Some of the noteworthy candidates areAmitbhai Dhirajlal Thakar, an educationist and a BJP leader for about three decades, Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Bharatbhai Patel (Viramgam) and   Kantilal Shivlal Amrutiya, who had jumped into Machhu river to save seven lives, when the suspension bridge collapsed in Morbi. Dr. Darshita Paras Shah, Deputy Mayor of Rajkot is the candidate from Rajkot West. Rivaba Ravindrasinh Jadeja, a prominent social worker and the wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja is the candidate from Jam Nagar North.

BJP has also released a list of star campaigners for the Gujarat elections. The Star campaigners will be led by the Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi. The others include Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and others. The BJP politicians, who are actors in regional films- Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan and Nirahua babu will also be holding political rallies in the state. Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel and MoS Home Harsh Sanghvi are also included in the Star Campaigners list.

Gujarat has been the stronghold of BJP for long and the party is seeking its seventh straight term in power in the State.
