Efforts for STOPPING the WAR draw CRITICISM from KYIV

December 5, 2022: Macron’s Efforts for Peace – Criticism by Zelenskiy

December 5, 2022: Ukraine President probably believes that with a free supply of arms by the west, he can win the war and drag Russian President and Generals to a Nuremberg-type trial. He probably thinks he can win a complete victory over Russia of the kind, which the allies won over Germany-Italy-Japan, by occupying Germany and Italy and by bringing Japan to its knees through atom bombs on two cities.

French President Emmanuel Macron has consistently maintained that the war can be ended only through a diplomatic solution. On June 4th Reuters had reported that Macron had said that it was vital that Russia was not humiliated. (Please read the report by Reuters at https://tinyurl.com/383m498d). In an interview to a regional newspaper, published on Saturday, 4th June 2022, Macron had repeated the idea in different words,” “We must not humiliate Russia so that the day when the fighting stops, we can build an exit ramp through diplomatic means.” In that interview, he had added,” I am convinced that it is France’s role to be a mediating power.” He said that he had told Putin that he (Macron) thought that he (Putin) was making a historic and fundamental mistake for his people, for himself and for history.

Macron has maintained a communication channel open with Putin, though he does not hesitate in telling President Putin his views, in spite of criticism by some Baltic nations and Zelensky. Moreover, France has continued to support Ukraine both militarily as well as financially.

In an interview with French TV station TF1, reported by Reuters (Please read the Reuters’ report at https://tinyurl.com/3cc3scz9 ), Macron said that Europe needs to prepare its future security architecture and also think “how to give guarantees to Russia the day it returns to the negotiating table.” This TV Interview was given immediately after Macron returned from his State Visit, on 1st of December 2022, to USA. At the White House, Macron discussed with Biden the creation of “the security architecture in which the world would want to live tomorrow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy criticized Macron through his top aide-  Mykhailo Podolyak. Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, probably encouraged by the recent successes by Ukraine’s forces against Russia, has started visualizing that Ukraine would be able to force Russia to de-nuclearize and demilitarize. Zelenskiy’s forces have notched a few successes against Russia. But Zelenskiy and his officers seem to be oblivious of the huge cost that the people of Ukraine are paying. (In 1945, after seeing the suffering of the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, due to atom bombs on 6 and 9 August 1945, respectively, the surrender of the Empire of Japan in World War II was announced by Emperor Hirohito, at the advice of Prince Fumimaro Konoe,  on 5th August and formally signed on 2 September 1945, bringing the war’s hostilities to a close.)

We hope the democratically elected government of Ukraine is more worried about the sufferings of the people of Ukraine, as compared with the worries about the pains of the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the heart of the sun king of Japan in 1945.
