Nov 15, 2022: Nominations of 89 constituencies completed in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: On November 15,  2022, nominations papers for 89 out of 182 constituencies were filed. For these constituencies, elections will take place in Phase 1 of the elections on December 1, 2022. The elections to Gujarat Legislative Assembly will take place in two phases on December 1 and 5, 2022. The results will be declared on Dec 8, 2022.

  Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi and Surat district BJP president Sandip Desai filed their nomination papers on Majura and Choryasi seats respectively in Surat city on Monday, while Congress and AAP candidates of Varachha seat also filed their nominations.

Wife of Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja and BJP leader Rivaba Jadeja filed her nomination papers to contest in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections from the Jamnagar North constituency. Before filing the nomination, she prayed at a temple along with her husband.

Former WATER SUPPLY Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya also filed the nomination for the Jasdan Assembly seat on a BJP ticket. In 2018 Kunvarji had left Congress to join the BJP party

On April 14, 2022, Senior Congress leaders from Saurashtra, Indranil Rajyaguru and Vasram Sagathiya (both ex-MLAs), and Congress corporator Komalben Bharai, had joined the Aam Aadmi Party, in the presence of Mr. the national President of AAP.

On Friday, November 11, 2022, Indranil Rajyaguru left AAP and re-joined Congress. Indian National Congress has fielded Rajguru from Rajkot East from where he had won in 2012. In 2017, he contested from Rajkot West against the then-Chief Minister Vijay Rupani of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and lost.
